When: Friday, October 22, 2010 7-9PM
Where: The Black Hand
3112 Woodcliff Avenue
Richmond, VA 23222
Short synopsis: Come to learn skills to help those with depression, anxiety, and stress issues cope with the extremist negative thought processes that come with such mental health issues. Learn to identify irrational and negative thoughts and emotions and turn them around into more rational and feasible thoughts. Thwarting negative thinking is the first step in coping with stressors of all types.
***We welcome people from all backgrounds to our house. But please be aware that we host sober events, so drugs and alcohol are prohibited.***
The Coping Skills zine that I have been working on will be given out to everyone that attends for free, so please make sure you RSVP whether you’re coming or not so I can print enough for everyone.
We will also have a short interest meeting/discussion of ideas for our new Icarus Project chapter. Anything you’d like to see at the Black Hand that is mental-health related please let us know at the meeting. We’ll also have an “official” meeting about this on another date, but since this workshop involves mental health, I thought why not?
Feel free to bring refreshments, and we have plastic cups and paper plates if anyone brings any food or drink.
Hope to see many of you there!
